Requirement for a Valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate for Travellers Arriving from Yellow Fever Endemic Countries

As the year-end travel season approaches, we at IMC would like to remind you of Singapore’s yellow fever vaccination requirements for travellers. While Singapore is free from yellow fever, there remains a risk of the virus being imported and transmitted as the mosquito that carries it is present in Singapore.

Vaccination Requirement

All travellers, including Singapore residents, who have visited countries with a risk of yellow fever transmission within the six days before arriving in Singapore must have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate. The requirement also applies to travellers with more than 12 hours airport transit in these countries. This certificate must be presented to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) upon arrival.

Vaccination Validity

The International Certificate of Vaccination for yellow fever becomes valid 10 days after vaccination and remains valid for the lifetime of the individual. Medical practitioners should advise travellers heading to yellow fever-endemic countries to get vaccinated at least 10 days before their trip.

Quarantine for Non-compliance

Travellers without a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate—whether due to not being vaccinated, being ineligible, or the certificate not yet being valid—may face quarantine. Under the Infectious Diseases Act, quarantine could last up to six days upon arrival in Singapore.
